Technology

Premium materials. Shape core. Made in France.
No bullshit.
Just pure performance tech.
No bullshit, no Chinese - just the real thing. We shape and laminate in Marennes, using premium materials and reinforcements that do the job. Our boards don't come out of a factory, they come out of a workshop. They take the real European waves - Landes, Hossegor, Vendée, Brittany - without flinching.
Cardinal is committed to an eco-responsible approach: waste reduction, 3D-optimized loaves, recycling of offcuts and choice of cleaner resins. Our shapes are traced with APS-3000 Dino-D for millimetric tolerance, less waste and greater precision.

PU ( Polyurethane )

PU (polyurethane) bread offers fluid inertia and an “organic” feel. Ideal for powerful waves and strong surfing. It's the historic reference.
Two sleek, black surfboards with white logos are shown from a diagonal top view. Technical labels and subtle graphics highlight construction details and material layers on a light grey background.
Composition & density
PU foam + polyester resin (or epoxy, depending on option). Higher density than EPS.
Flex & sensations
Progressive flex, pleasant cushioning, pronounced drive in the hollow.
Highlights
Stability at high speed, grip in hollows, “classic” feel.
To be preferred
Powerful waves, strong beachbreaks, Landes/Hossegor, committed surfing.

EPS ( Epoxy )

EPS (expanded polystyrene) is light and responsive. It pops fast and keeps speed in soft sections. Perfect for small/medium waves and fast surfing.
Two sleek black surfboards with white logos are displayed horizontally on a light background, showing construction details such as layers of fiberglass and epoxy, with text annotations highlighting specific features.
Composition & density
EPS foam + epoxy resin. Lower density → lighter board.
Flex & sensations
Lively response, fast recovery, “nervous” feel and pronounced pop.
Highlights
Speed in the slack, quick start, increased manoeuvrability.
To be preferred
Small/medium waves, “soft” spots, fast & airy surf.

Our other options

Spin-tech

Principle : oriented internal reinforcement limits parasitic torsion and transmits energy to the drive line. More nerve, less sandwich fatigue.

Result: more direct recovery, crisper feel, longer structural life.

½ Carbon

Principle : strategic placement of carbon on a half-surface (deck or hull) to stiffen without “killing” the flex.

Result: directional stability and low-angle grip, while retaining its springiness.

Full carbon

Principle : full carbon envelope (skins + bands) on optimized layup.

Result: maximum responsiveness, low weight, high strength for demanding riders.

APS-3000 Dino-D

millimetre precision
We shape by hand, but we like serious toys. Our APS-3000 Dino-D cuts each blank to ultra-fine tolerance. The machine traces, the shaper refines. The result: a perfect base, faithful runs and more time for feeling.
A large CNC router machine with a black frame is set up in a clean, brightly lit workshop with a concrete floor and white walls. Hoses and cables are attached, and clamps are visible on the machine bed.
Production flow
A large, hand-drawn letter "Z" in pencil on a plain white background. The lines are slightly uneven, giving it a casual, sketch-like appearance.
Validated shape file
A large, hand-drawn number 2 in pencil on a plain white background. The lines are slightly uneven, giving it a casual, sketch-like appearance.
CNC cutting (rough blank)
A rough, hand-drawn zigzag line, resembling the number three, appears in light gray on a plain white background.
Hand finish (rails/hull)
A roughly sketched number "4" drawn with a thick, textured line on a plain white background.
Laminating & reinforcements
A large, hand-drawn number 5 in light gray brushstroke style on a plain white background.
Finishing & quality control

How to choose your foam cake?

You want drive and control in the hollow → PU.
You want pop, instant speed and lightness → EPS.
You surf everything, all year round → we adapt the layup and reinforcements to your spot.
