DNA: Self-taught shaper and Core culture
I started making boards officially in 1991. In my parents' garage, with no regard for safety rules. I had to learn a bit on my own, and being self-taught, there were quite a few failures.
The quest for knowledge : Back then, in France, shapers wouldn't give up. It was often “back off man, this is our business”. So our technical “Bible” was the Design Forum of American magazines. Surfing and Surfing Magazine. We read, dissected and tested.
Influences : Our culture is American, very strong, very raw. Metal, rigor and the “Fletcher attitude”. And to complete the picture: the discipline of martial arts. Because to really understand a technique, you have to know how to observe, how to repeat, and never give up when it stings.
